Industry-government-academia joint research project with Kamakura City

Kamakura City (Kanagawa Prefecture) and Dream Incubator (DI) have signed an agreement to launch an industry-government-academia joint research project with an aim to realize a society that values diversity and inclusiveness by “getting many people's voices heard”. Intolerant patterns of thought and behavior in Japanese society have been an issue over recent years and are believed to have negative impact on people’s daily lives and innovation.

The first proof of concept was conducted last summer in collaboration with Yokose town (Saitama Prefecture) through its public-private platform “Yokorabo” (a place where people/companies who wish to try their ideas/projects in the town can seek support from the local government and private sector). We have encouraged project participants to actively respond to resident surveys and managed to help everyone share their own opinions with the local government.

The project design is supervised by Emeritus Professor Masao Matsumoto (Saitama University). Research data analysis is performed in cooperation with Associate Professor Shinichi Yamaguchi (International University of Japan).
