DI's Managing Director Mr. Munehiko Eto thoughts about Indian startup ecosystem

Mr. Munehiko Eto - Managing Director of Dream Incubator India has written a column for Liiga, a career advancement support service for young adults. Here he talks about the current Indian startup ecosystem and challenges/opportunities of Japanese startups.
While very few Japanese companies decide to go global for a variety of reasons like the overwhelming global presence of the US Big 4 tech companies (GAFA), China’s 3 tech titans (BAT), and withdrawals of Rakuten, Gree, and DeNA, India remains a very potential market with a large population and plenty of room to adopt innovative technologies and new business models.

In India, young energetic Indian startups like Paytm grow like mushrooms after rain and make a positive global impact. As of April 2019, India ranks 4th in the world for the number of unicorns (15 companies). At this rate, India will overtake the UK in the next few years to become the third-largest startup powerhouse, and now is the chance for Japan to enter their ecosystem.
