Rep Director and COO Takayuki Miyake discusses challenges and opportunities of Japan’s decarbonization goals
The pledge to go carbon-free by 2050 announced by the former Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga at the end of 2020 has gained huge public attention but left many of Japanese companies confused about what to do next to align themselves with the climate ambition. In a featured article published on Toyo Keizai Online (Japanese language) and The Japan Times (English language), Dream Incubator Representative Director & COO Takayuki Miyake discusses a range of challenges and opportunities in the decarbonization goal of Japan. He believes that technological innovation should not be the only lens we see this through. As he states it, it is vital to carefully build a feasible business model going side by side with government programs. A bright future awaits if the private sector takes the lead (rather than waiting for systems and regulations to come into play) as the government works closely with the private sector to grow "real" businesses.
