MOU signing with Sapporo on social impact bond initiatives
Dream Incubator Inc. (“DI”) signed an MOU this month with Sapporo City (Hokkaido, Japan) to boost research on social impact bond (“SIB”), a public-private partnership structure where national governments undertake privately financed projects through results-based contractual arrangements with private sector service providers. Emerged in the UK then spread around the globe, SIBs allow cost cuts for governments and help address various social issues. Japan’s health sector has witnessed the increasing adoption of SIBs in recent years.
DI works to “produce” industries with the aim of solving social problems through an organic integration of business strategies, technologies, and policies, and has been delivering several innovative projects in collaboration with Japan ministries, municipalities, and private businesses.
DI and Sapporo will work on collaborative research projects exploring the development of SIBs in key areas with large social needs such as preventive healthcare, infrastructure maintenance/repair, environment/energy sector. With mutually shared knowledge and networks, DI and Sapporo seek to provide solutions to complex social issues and implement more initiatives with wider potential impact.
