DI’s purpose of business investment is to nurture the business, promote the growth of investees by providing know-how cultivated through business production of large companies and incubation of venture companies, and management resources such as business networks.
• Case study: One successful business investment of DI is Tokyo Girls Collection (TGC), which hosts Japan’s largest fashion festival. In 2012, TGC used its trademark as collateral for borrowing. However, the company almost gave up the trademark due to poor financial plan. DI saved TGC by acquiring the company’s trademark and introducing customers to TGC. In 2015, DI transferred the trademark ownership to an entertainment company with the hope that it could leverage TGC’s brand.
In a nutshell, DI supports its investees in many industries to provide additional values to customers, which in turn help changing society.
